Wailua Bay already feels like a postcard, then the torches light, the drums start, and the whole shoreline turns into a stage. Wailua Nui Lū‘au is an oceanfront night out on Kaua‘i’s East Side, with the kind of easy flow you want on vacation, arrive, grab a lei, watch the sun slide down, then settle in for an imu ceremony and a big Hawaiian-style buffet before the show kicks into high gear.

You’re getting more than dinner and a performance, you’re stepping into a story that fits the place. Wailua has deep roots, and the evening leans into the legends, the ocean, and the people who made their way across the Pacific and built life on these islands. If you’re staying in Kapa‘a, or you just want a lū‘au that doesn’t require a long drive after dark, this one lands in a sweet spot. Check out VIP Seats.

MORE ABOUT THE HILTON GARDEN LUAU

This luau is all about location. Being right on Wailua Bay changes the feel of the whole night, the breeze cools things down, the sky does its sunset thing, and the show feels like it belongs right where it’s being performed. The storytelling leans into Kaua‘i energy, the ocean, the legends, the sense of place, not just a greatest-hits playlist.

Dinner is a big part of it too, think classic Hawaiian comfort food, local flavors, and enough options that picky eaters and hungry people both leave happy. It’s the kind of buffet where you can build a plate that’s familiar, or go all-in on “try everything once” and treat it like your own mini food tour.

What's the difference Between Wailua Nui Luau and Aulii Luau

Wailua Nui Lū‘au is an East Side Kapa‘a lū‘au at the Hilton Garden Inn on Wailua Bay, with a lei greeting, cultural activities, an imu ceremony, buffet, and a show that leans into Kaua‘i stories and the Wailua setting, its also offered Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. ‘Auli‘i Lū‘au is a South Shore Po‘ipū lū‘au on the Sheraton Kaua‘i Resort beach lawn, and it’s positioned more like a full night out with a clearly stated open bar all night, plus a broader Polynesian revue that calls out stops like Tahiti, Hawai‘i, Aotearoa, and Samoa, ending with fire knife dancing, it typically runs Mondays and Wednesdays with seasonal check-in times.

Big picture, pick Wailua Nui if you want East Side convenience and Kaua‘i focused storytelling, pick ‘Auli‘i if you care most about Po‘ipū location and the guaranteed open bar + pan-Polynesian show format.

Check-in Time: 5 pm

Check-in Location: On-site at the Wailua Nui Lū‘au grounds at the Hilton Garden Inn Kaua‘i Wailua Bay (3-5920 Kūhiō Hwy, Kapa‘a). When you arrive, you’ll follow the lū‘au signs from the hotel area over to the check-in table at the luau entrance.

Parking: Park in the Hilton Garden Inn’s self-parking lot. For lū‘au guests, self-parking is typically validated (valet isn’t offered for the lū‘au), so keep your parking ticket or info handy and have it validated at check-in.

Great Show!

I loved the hula dancing and the music. That was my favorite part.

We really wanted to be near the water for our 1st luau, and this was perfect. My wife really enjoyed the show, but the food is what did it for me (and the fire dancing!) Thank you so much for a lovely evening.
